STUDIO GISTO

Modular waste collection system for public spaces

Created for the Mantua Festivaletteratura, Cestino Què is a modular waste collection system designed by Studio GISTO.
Designed for public spaces, it combines formal simplicity, sustainable materials, and technical solutions that facilitate its handling and use in different contexts.

Designed to last, conceived to adapt.

Made entirely of heat-treated ash wood, the bin is composed of a few essential elements, assembled using joints and hidden screws.

Inside the structure, a shaped metal plate, inserted into a milled slot and secured at one end, supports the collection bag. The system includes additional metal inserts with magnets that facilitate the replacement and securing of the bag.

The upper part features interchangeable panels in special milled slots, allowing flexible use of the product in different contexts.

Essential functionality.

The design is intended to be easily foldable and storable in a small space. The structure folds with a single movement, thanks to a system that locks the central crossbar onto one of the supporting legs. Once closed, each module can be stacked in a stable and compact manner, simplifying transport and storage between events.

Construction details.

Each module has a heat-treated ash wood supporting structure, composed of elements that can be assembled and disassembled. The components are precision cut and milled to ensure stability and ease of assembly.
The system has been designed to ensure replicability in limited series, without losing the identity of the unique piece.
